I will be at the South Florida Science Museum on November 19,2011 between 12:00PM – 3:00PM. I will be setting up my HSMM system in an attempt to reach one of the pavilions in Dreher Park. The closest pavilion is over 600 feet away and I hope that it is available at the time of testing. This will be a challenge for me because I only have stock antennas. I will be testing my prototype router stand and my XMPP/VoIP server. If anyone wishes to test a router please feel free to drop by.
I have some requirements for anyone testing routers. You will need a router with HSMM-MESH already installed and configured. I will not be installing firmware. If needed, I will help troubleshoot any issues that come up. Also your router will need to be field ready, meaning on a stand or be able to be mounted high. You will also need it to be powered. I do not think there will be power outlets in the park so a battery is needed.
If you would like to help test the VoIP system you will also need to bring a laptop with wireless access, a web camera and a chat client that supports XMPP protocol. You can download a copy of Pidgin, the program that I will be using at http://www.pidgin.im/ . Please note that you can also try and use a personal device like an iPhone, iPad or other device. Just make sure that the device has a chat client that supports XMPP protocal. I was able to use Monal and Talkonaut on my iPhone. Both are free and work great. Talkonaut supports audio and video. Although I was able to get audio, I was not able to get video on Talkonaut due to my first generation iPhone.
Please contact me at http://www.kj4pwp.com/information/contact.php to let me know if you would like to test this out. I will add you to the server to save time. Thank you
